Dr. Zuckerberg is a 1978 graduate of New York University College of Dentistry. He completed a general practice residency at the Brooklyn V.A. Hospital in 1979 and received advanced training in Oral Surgery, Periodontics, Endodontics (Root Canal) and Prosthetics (Crown, Bridges and Dentures). In 1984, Dr. Zuckerberg received a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (F.A.G.D.) recognizing his superior achievements in post-graduate continuing education.
To this day, Dr. Zuckerberg regularly participates in courses to improve his craft utilizing modern techniques and materials. He has consulted with insurance companies and appeared as an expert witness in court. Dr. Zuckerberg has published articles in Dental Journals on his observations and on his development of new techniques and is featured in the September 2010 issue of Dentaltown Magazine where he writes on the use of Social Media (Facebook) for Dentists. His ability to render comprehensive care, while being especially sensitive to the needs of phobic patients, sets him apart from his colleagues. Dr. Zuckerberg’s outside interests include scuba diving, photography and contract bridge.

Dr. Catalina Navarro received her initial dental degree in Colombia, her native country, in 1991. She subsequently came to the U.S. and received a dental degree from N.Y.U. College of Dentistry in 1998 and she has been with our practice since 2006. Dr. Navarro also provides a complete range of dental services and together with Dr. Zuckerberg, she provides our patients with comprehensive dental care and convenient hours. She is also fluent in English and Spanish.

Dr. Clifford Nebel retired from 35 years of active dental practice in Queens, NY in 2006 and now serves the practice as administrative consultant where he overseas computer entries and processes insurance claims. Dr. Nebel also provides emergency coverage for the practice when Drs. Zuckerberg and Navarro are absent.

Our chairside assistants, Kim Schiavone and Michelle Casarella will make your clinical experience a comfortable one in their direct assistance of Drs. Zuckerberg and Navarro. In 2009, Kim and Dr. Zuckerberg obtained CAD/CAM certification from D4D Technologies in Dallas, TX and Kim will scan and create restorations prepared by the Doctors for same day, 1 visit crowns, inlays and veneers. Kim will also help coordinate your future appointments to make sure that follow up appointments are timely and that any necessary lab work and materials have arrived before your return visit.

Our licensed dental hygienists, Lori Bretts (who has been with us for 14 years), Rosemarie Scavello and Ryan Kiamos, will perform comfortable, preventive care including prophylaxis (teeth cleaning), fluoride treatments where applicable, digital x-rays (including digital panoramic x-rays), sealants, non-surgical gum treatments, hygiene instruction and tooth whitening procedures. Where indicated, they will place antimicrobials to combat periodontal disease, minimizing your need for more comprehensive periodontal care.

Finally, our employee with the longest term of service in our office, Rosa Cavalluzzi (since 1988) can help you with financial arrangements and will assist you in obtaining the maximum insurance benefits available to you. Rosa’s extensive knowledge of dental insurance companies will allow you to easily navigate the otherwise difficult, bureaucratic world of insurance, and speed up the time it takes for your carrier to pay claims. She will also work with you on treatment plans where you require financial arrangements and will present options that are affordable and tailored to your budget. Often times these can be arranged with no interest at all, and on longer payment plans she can arrange for rates that are competitive and far better options than credit card financing.
